We hope your experience was Beyond Words. But please feel free to leave a few anyway.
Welcome to the beginning. Leave your first impressions of the Press Hotel here.
My husband and I stayed at the Press Hotel for two nights as part of our honeymoon, and the experience was truly "beyond words." He had planned the entire honeymoon as a surprise for me, and upon first entering the lobby of the Press Hotel, tears of joy sprang to my eyes. I was so thrilled with the creative and unique newspaper theme, with the "Inkwell" bar, typewriters and typewriter cases decorating the walls, and old typeface everywhere. It felt like the hotel had been designed just for me, and I told my husband that I didn't think any other hotel in the world could have been a more perfect choice. Amazingly, the hotel had upgraded us to the penthouse suite because it was our honeymoon! The suite was huge and came with tall ceilings, a kitchen, two bathrooms (including one with a two-person tub where we shared a bubble bath), and best of all, a private roof deck (where we watched the sun rise one morning, and had a couple's massage conducted by Akari Beauty). My husband had ordered local Allagash beers which were waiting chilled in the room when we arrived. We took advantage of breakfast room service and enjoyed the delicious "Simple Beginnings" (which included a huge helping of gourmet cheese crumbles, scrumptious ham, fruit, and hard-boiled eggs, as well as the Smoked Salmon breakfast which was equally delicious. The hotel also gave us a collection of poems by Maine authors as part of turn-down service -- not to mention the dark chocolates! They did absolutely everything they could to make our honeymoon with them special and memorable, and it was a truly unforgettable experience. The Press Hotel has now come to hold a special place in our hearts, and we can't wait to come back for anniversaries and other occasions. Thank you so much!!!
My family and I stayed at the Press Hotel last weekend and had a fabulous time. Right from the second we pulled up to the front door we were taken care of. Our bags made it to our room before we did. The valet remembered my name within a few hours and every time he saw me near the front door, he would come over to see what he could do to help me. I loved the typewriter/typeface theme throughout the hotel. The typewriter art display on the wall in the lobby is stunning. I couldn't help but notice that everyone who walks into the lobby sees "The Swarm" and breaks into a huge smile. Our room was so comfortable and plush we almost didn't want to leave it but we couldn't wait to explore Portland. This is a great city to spend a few weekends in and The Press Hotel is a great addition the Portland. We'll be recommending it to all are friends and family.
Thank you so much for giving us a tour of the beautiful Press Hotel back in May. We enjoyed learning the concepts behind the design and all of the local talent that was employed. We were incredibly impressed with the whole experience. We have posted our piece, Destination Portland: The Press Hotel, on our blog here: http://blog.kcolette.com/destination-portland-the-press-hotel.
I stayed at the Press Hotel for several days in the week right after the opening. My stay got off to a great start when the Valet/Bellman greeted me warmly. I was running a little late for a meeting so he said he would take care of my luggage. I checked in and went immediately to my meeting. When I finally got back to my room, my luggage was there and my sport coat which I had just dropped into an open satchel was hung in the closet with a note from the Valet that he hoped I did not mind his taking the intiative to hang it. That was just the first of many positive experiences coming from then extremely competent and accommodating staff at the Hotel. Next great experience was in the dining room that evening. Open less than a week, I was expecting some rough edges in the service and the quality of food. After my great valet experience, I should not have been surprised that both the dining service and the food were excellent. The wine list is well thought out and gives many selections in a reasonable price range. The room was extremely comfortable with an excellent layout and attractive furniture. Am looking forward to my next trip to Portland. I know where I am staying...
Cool & Chic yet Warm & Welcoming...
We had an amazing 'get away' @ The Press Hotel, located right in Portland's Old Port. The Press Hotel has a unique literary design, with typewriters 'swirling' up the foyer wall, letters 'dripping' off the corridor walls and onto the carpeting, quotes and quips scattered throughout the incredibly comfortable rooms and delicious, locally sourced restaurant, Union. We are already looking forward to our next 'Get Away' trip to The Press Hotel!

The unique visual points of interest at every turn (e.g., art, newspaper references, design elements) make it a stand out among other Portland hotels (and hotels anywhere). I would recommend it to anyone inquiring about where to stay in Portland. The staff was professional and polished. I walked out at the end of the night and forgot the jacket that I had given to the front desk hours earlier. Before I could turn around to go get it, one of your employees was already coming out with it. How they remembered it was mine or even noticed that I had left without it is beyond me, but I was impressed by their attentiveness.
